Ashland Public Library

As a co-sponsor of the Summer Reading Program, the Ashland Public Library is a wonderful resource for books and much more over the summer.  Come to the Library and pick up a Reading Passport and add your name to the Summer Reading Display.  Then come in during the summer to pick up your prizes.

Each time you come to the library, we will stamp your Reading Passport.  Everyone with 5 or more stamps at the end of the summer will receive an extra prize.  You must have your Reading Passport with you in order to receive your stamp.

When you reach level 20 on your reading chart, you earn a Summer Reading book bag.
When you reach level 50 you earn a color-changing pencil.
When you reach level 80 you earn a One World, Many Stories bookmark.
When you reach level 100 you can choose a book from the Library’s special prize collection, provided by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library, and a sticker will be put on your nametag.
When you reach level 120 you earn a Ticket to Read bookmark.
When you reach level 150 you earn an “Earth” mini spring.
When you reach level 180 you earn a Reading Landmarks bookmark.
When you reach level 200 you can earn another book and another sticker.
If you read past level 200 you can keep earning books and stickers - one book for every 100 chapters or 1050 minutes completed!

TO CLAIM YOUR LIBRARY PRIZES YOU MUST SHOW YOUR SUMMER READING LOG TO THE LIBRARIAN.
ALL LIBRARY PRIZES MUST BE PICKED UP BEFORE YOU TURN IN YOUR READING LOG AT SCHOOL ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2011.

You may pick up your Library Prizes when you earn them during the summer, or you may pick them up at the end of the program, but no later than September 1, 2011.  If you decide to wait until the end of the summer, the selection of prizes might be limited.

You can also help earn new books for the Library.  Ashland merchants and families have pledged donations towards the purchase of new books for the Children’s Room.  The more kids who read this summer, the more books the Children’s Room will be able to buy.  Last year’s readers earned 88 new books and 22 new audio books for the Children’s Room!

If you have a younger brother or sister, age 2 to pre-K, be sure to tell them about the Library’s “Read-With-Me” Program.  Kids who join this program will be given a chart to keep track of the days someone reads with them.  They will also put their names up on display and will earn some prizes.

One World, Many Stories is sponsored by the Ashland Public Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
